MAJOR
SUCCESS FOR THAMES WATER AND CIBA SPECIALTY CHEMICALS IN SUPPLY CHAIN
PROJECT TO REDUCE FIXED COSTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
'Cutting the Cost of Cleaner
Water'
This article
summarises the outcome of the 18 month project between IeC and Chemical
Strategies Partnership, funded by Yorkshire Forward
We aim to help our
clients develop strategies that will to build sustainability
along the entire value chain. This involves
helping clients to:
-
Understand the changes taking
place in the external landscape
-
Identify the actions required to
respond to these
-
Implement changes in a sustainable and cost-effective way

Companies tend to have distinctive needs in this
area, according to the size and nature of their individual business, and
our approach responds to this.
We also recognise that this is a
developing area: today's growing focus on the sustainability of
products, as well as on their price and technical performance, is
increasingly leading to a wider need to
demonstrate social responsibility to employees, business partners and
society.
The particular area where
we operate is in helping companies to
transform
their chemical supply chain by changing the relationship between
downstream manufacturers and chemical suppliers. We assist clients to
develop supplier-customer relationships that:
- Move
away from traditional product/performance-based negotiations
-
Become more
strategic and incentive-based
- Provide
chemical products and relevant technological know-how within a
service-based offering
We aim to help
clients understand the emerging new landscape, identify potential
strategies, and implement these successfully.
